Choose the Right Garnet Abrasive for Your Waterjet Cutting
Abrasive waterjet cutting, a precise and efficient cold-cutting process, is operated through waterjet equipment. Various types of garnets, each with its unique properties, are available in different sizes for abrasive cutting applications. When the right type and size of garnet are used in the high-pressure waterjet stream, it produces a remarkably smooth cutting surface with no heat-affected zones or slag.
Tumblr media
This precision is crucial for your waterjet cutting application. With various types, grades, and sizes of garnet available, the garnet you choose depends on the intended application. Consider the thickness of the material, its composition, the speed of the cut, and the cut finish requirements. It is crucial to get the right garnet, but which garnet is right for waterjet cutting applications? Let's find out!
What is Garnet Abrasive?
Garnet is a hard silica mineral found in the metamorphic rocks. It is a naturally occurring crystallized aluminum or calcium silicate mineral. It is found in deposits from almandite and andradite quarried in the USA, India, China, South Africa, and Australia. The garnet abrasive used for waterjet cutting are pieces between 60 mesh viz 250 micrometers and 200 mesh viz 74 micrometers. The pieces bigger than 60 mesh viz 250 micrometers are used for sandblasting.
Western Carbon & Chemicals is the largest garnet manufacturer in India. We offer garnet in different grades, namely WCC-Garnet 20-40 mesh, WCC-Garnet 30-60 mesh, WCC-Garnet 80 mesh, and WCC-Garnet 120 mesh. The garnet crystal ranges from 6-8 on the moh scales that determine hardness.
Types of Garnet
River or Alluvial Garnet: River garnet resembles pinkish sand. It is naturally crushed and formed over the years as the beaches and rivers break down into minerals. Abrasive garnet is found in abundance on the Australian and Indian coasts.
Rock Garnet: The rock garnet has a dark brown to red colour found on the coats of Western India, the USA, and China. The rock garnet crystals are mined, crushed, and purified. It has sharp edges and offers a more aggressive cut than other types of garnet.
Factors to Look for When Choosing Garnet Abrasive for Waterjet Cutting
Mesh Size: Mesh size or grade is the size rating of a single piece of garnet. The most common abrasive garnet size for waterjet cutting is from 50 to 120 mesh. When choosing the grade 80 mesh, it is the most common one; for more aggressive and denser materials like stainless steel, choose from 40 to 60 mesh. To improve cutting, go for a higher mesh between 100 to 120 mesh. Review the nozzle of the waterjet and orifice combination to enhance water flow.
Particle Size Consistency: For waterjet cutting applications, consistent size particles are essential. Oversized particles can clog the orifice or damage the equipment. Go for double sifted garnet, as it ensures quality and consistency in particle sizes for accurate cutting.
Purity: Higher purity means top-quality garnet. It offers accurate cutting and reduces the chances of rejection.
Finding the Right Garnet Abrasive for Waterjet Cutting Applications
To maximize the performance of the waterjet cutting system, you need to choose the right garnet abrasive in terms of purity, grade, mesh size, and type. Western Carbon & Chemicals is a leading garnet exporter in China. We provide a variety of garnet grades to suit your specific applications. We offer customization in terms of mesh size, hardness, grade, and purity. Contact us to discuss your requirements.

I uh. It's December. You may or may not have noticed.
I did Nanowrimo, spent my "creative projects half hour" slot on that, and completely forgot about posting my fourth year of daily drawings for October. Nevertheless, into my my art tag it goes.
In a fit of petty first world anarchism, I did Inktober's prompts, but digitally.
This year's been busy, so I tried to stick to my half an hour per day drawing time slot. (I say, gritting my teeth, forehead vein bulging as I look at the parts I don't like.)
I am forcing myself to acknowledge that the past year—with its approximately 130 hours of drawing practice—has resulted in some improvements to line control, anatomy, and perspective, but I'm definitely also reaching the point where several of these feel too embarrassing to post.
In fact I only picked nine, instead of the ten I did the last few years.
Please read some of the captions because at least I do think I'm funny.
Dreams was an auspicious start. I like this Bakugirl.
Fortune... exists. I should've been a little bolder with the fairy actually like, interacting with the dragon woman's palm, really being present there, instead of just sort of posed on top. I also should've made the table smaller, dragoness is supposed to be huge.
I immediately decided I was doing some kind of pair for Angel and Demon. Please ignore that the actual prompt was not Devil. It's close enough right? If I had more time and ambition the devil girl's net was going to be made of serpents. I did not really capture her "shouting" expression the way I wanted, but now that I'm looking it's not execrable. Angel's dreads are definitely more half hearted than I wanted. This one did at least convince me that my next batches of studies need to be of clothed figures.
Rise got my favorite concept for the whole month. Cause it's bread. Get it? eh? Please enjoy our little alchemist workshopping her lines for introducing her magnum opus. Tried to lean into cartoonish with her face.
I spent a solid 10 minutes trying to decide what to do for Dagger, and then all of a sudden it was like a voice spoke to me: "Do fan art of one of your favorite games of all time." I wish the Final Fantasy series hadn't abandoned that more stylized, cartoonish vibe. You know, one of the most interesting things about drawing is realizing that I am 100% looking at things that I have previously—apparently!—only kind of glanced at. Like I would not, before drawing this, have described Garnet as having, to be frank, a prodigious bosom, significant badonkerage, or ginormous dobonhonkeros. To be frank. And a really low cut top to boot. But here we are. I like this face. Wish I'd chosen a more dynamic pose.
For Shallow I decided to do a little snippet of something from one of my stories (coincidentally one related to what I was working on in November). The anatomy is a bit iffy. And even though she's literally supposed to have been buried in a shallow hole in the woods, I had to add a gravestone because I wasn't confident how well that showed.
Rush is another one where I was not at all sure what I was going to do until the brain noise intruded, "Firetrucks are red because red's the color of communism and they're always Russian[Rushin'] around." What was I thinking with that background?
Hilariously, I didn't notice the final prompt of Inktober and how well Fire went with my spontaneous choice for the previous day. It's only now that I'm posting that I realized during export I must have turned off the "background" layer that shows a(n attempt at a) continuation of the previous background. I recall being really frustrated trying to get the foreshortening right on this mischievous fire-ninja jill-o-lantern's arms, but it doesn't look so awful now.
It's fascinating feeling myself more fully move into the phase of learning where I can tell that I'm on the cusp of drawing this or that noticeably better, I just have to push, put a bit more time into individual pieces. And of course, practice.
Next I think I'll aim for at least four and up to twelve studies of clothed figures. Might stop to try and find some good hints on drawing a good fire, or something that suggests dirt.
But I also have some writing to do. I got engaged in my Nanowrimo project. I'm finishing something else up that a friend and I have worked on in bits for years. Of course, what I'd really like is to do some writing and drawing practice every day. It hasn't happened yet, but then again, between picking up drawing supplies and actually starting to practice daily, "It hasn't happened yet" was the case for years.
Until it wasn't.

SOLD Prayer-Strand of the Dionysion Mysteries
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first prayer strand in a series made at the behest of a local magical shop where I hold a seasonal vendor residency. This is a strand which I am currently selling made in honor of The Abundant Lord of Ivy, Dionysus.
Crafted during His festival season, this strand is made from beads of garnet, snake vertebrae, rutilated clear quartz, picture jasper, and tiger-skin sandalwood. The pendant is made from a found piece of antique ceramic, a common export of my mountain town which is rich in clay. The alternating pendant is hand carved from local pine, with Dionysus's name burned on one sign and a symbol of His on the other.
While I originally conceived of this as a purely devotional piece, it quickly took on a life of its own. That original sentiment holds, though now I associate with this particular tool a dual sorcerous use. Both ecstatic and monastic. For the shape shifting, chthonic-vegitation, and fertility giving aspects of Dionysus. I could easily see this tool employed in uses of spirit flight and skin changing, or even to serve as a Dionysian fetish.
I now make this piece available here, should it's rightful owner not be local. $80 + shipping. DM to purchase or discuss payment plan options.

Industrial Garnet Market Analysis: Key Players and Growth Prospects
Origin and Properties of Industrial Garnet Garnet is a group of silicate minerals that forms through metamorphic processes deep within the earth. Their chemical composition makes them extremely hard and abrasion resistant. The garnet group includes almandine, spessartine, pyrope, grossular and uvarovite. Among these, almandine garnet which is an iron aluminium silicate mineral, is most commonly used for industrial applications due to its high hardness rating of 6.5–7.5 on Mohs scale. Other desirable properties of industrial garnet include chemical inertness, thermal stability and angular crystalline structure which allows it to perform well as an abrasive. Applications in Abrasive Blasting and Waterjet Cutting Garnet's hardness and angular crystalline shape make it ideally suited for abrasive blasting applications. Finely ground garnet is used as the abrasive media in various blasting processes like grit blasting, sand blasting and micro blasting. It is used to clean metal surfaces, degrease parts and prepares surfaces for painting or other coatings. In waterjet cutting, high pressure jets of water mixed with garnet abrasive are used to cut through even the hardest of metals like steel and titanium with extreme precision. Garnet isPreferred over other abrasives like silica and aluminum oxide for waterjet cutting as it is non-toxic and pose no health hazards. Role in Abrasive Powder and Paper Products Finely crushed garnet finds use in the manufacture of abrasive powders in varied grain sizes for uses like grinding, honing and polishing metal and stone surfaces. It is a key ingredient in manufacturing coated abrasives like sandpaper, grinding discs and belts etc. The angular structure and hardness of garnet particles provides the abrasiveness for removing material when used with coated abrasives. Garnet powder is also used as a filler in the manufacture of grinding wheels, cut-off wheels, grinding stones and honing sticks where it enhances their abrasiveness and performance. Use in Cleaning and Blast Finishing Due to their hardness and durability, garnet particles effectively remove dirt, stains, rust, coatings and even smooth rough surfaces. They are thus widely used in blast finishing of surfaces to achieve varied grades of roughness for applications like preparing metal surfaces for painting. Garnet particles are also used in cleaners for domestic and industrial applications to remove scale, stains and other dirt from surfaces like tiles, sanitary ware, glass, vehicle bodies etc. Their safety for the environment makes garnet an attractive alternative to other harmful abrasives for a host of cleaning purposes. Key Global Producer and Exporter - India India holds significant garnet reserves globally and is one of the leading producers and exporters of industrial garnet to markets across the world. Major garnet deposits are found in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan which are mine to extract almandine-pyrope hybrid garnet variety. Stringent mining norms and emergence of organized players has ensured quality supply. India exports over 80% of its total refined garnet, primarily to the USA and Europe where it finds application in abrasives, waterjet cutting, drilling and surface preparation industries. With their unique abilities, garnet from India is poised to continue supporting key modern industries globally.

World Building | Natural Resources
Tumblr media
Solarpunk Project - Nusa Stiglitz
Sri Lanka contains several diverse natural resources to draw from. Apart from the main ones that are used in this world (tropical climate, windy coasts, lakes and rivers), there are other smaller ones that are put to use in various other fields. They are as follows;
Mineral
Agricultural
Mineral Resources
Sri Lanka is home to several materials of the earth, such as limestone, graphite, mineral sands, gems, and phosphate.
Limestone is used in construction (in concrete) and in agriculture (to balance the pH levels in soil). It is used in a similar fashion as in Roman construction, which makes buildings and statues far more durable and in the long run, is better for the environment.
Graphite is used in writing materials, lubricants (like grease), in the electrical industry and to create graphene sheets, which are several times more durable than steel, and far more lightweight (used in the construction of certain technologies and equipment). The use of natural graphite in particular is more popular in Sri Lanka as it produces very little carbon emissions in comparison to the production of synthetic graphite.
Mineral sands are smaller ore deposits in the form of particles. Sri Lanka is well-endowed with industrial minerals including Graphite, Ilmenite, Rutile, Zircon, Quartz, Feldspar, Clay, Kaolin, Apatite, (Phosphate Rock), Silica Sand, Garnet sand, Mica, Calcite and Dolomite. Several mineral-sand deposits of Monazite, Zircon, Garnet and Ilmenite in particular are found in various parts of the island, and are now being exported. These are used in creating the wind turbine magnets that power part of the coasts of the island, and in medical, manufactured and electronic products such as fibre optics, and rechargeable batteries. Additionally, it is also used in materials such as inks, paints and sunscreen.
There exist a variety of gems that can be mined from Sri Lanka. Especially notable are blue sapphire, pink sapphire or ruby, and yellow sapphire; alexandrite and cat's-eye chrysoberyl; and almandine and hessonite garnet. These in particular resulted in a booming jewellery industry that formed in the country that often exports to other parts of the world.
Finally, phosphate is used to create phosphorous, which is itself used in fertiliser. It can also be used to create phosphorous acid, which has several applications as an agent in food, cosmetics, electronics and animal feed.
Agricultural Resources
The main agricultural export of Sri Lanka is tea, however the country also exports rubber, coconuts, rice, and spices. It was because of these resources that colonisers were drawn to this country, which also had the ideal conditions to grow them in. Ancient Sri Lankans also indulged in the practice of Chena cultivation, which was used to cultivate vegetables, greens, grains and cereals. Agriculture also heavily depended on the monsoonal seasons (Maha and Yala), and certain crops are relegated to only certain parts of the country (for example, tea is only grown in the central highlands of the country).
The nature of the Sri Lankan diet is such that most if not all compounds of a balanced meal can be locally sourced and grown in one's own garden. This led some Sri Lankans to pursue a meat-free lifestyle, although a more proper term would be to call it a minimum-meat lifestyle.
Live meat is found in the forms of cow, chicken, pig, and goat meat. Pork is slightly less common than the other two, as the demand for it is less. In addition to this, certain commodities are harvested from these animals, such as milk and eggs. Eggs in particular may come from a variety of animals, ranging from the aforementioned chicken to quail to duck. Sri Lanka also thrives on a strong fishing culture, with many fishing villages lining the coasts of the countries. However, villagers are careful not to harm crucial elements of the environment in the process (such as mangroves). Thus, more traditional means of fishing are employed. Some marine life that are often caught are crab, prawn, shark, and both large and smaller species of fish.
In addition to consumables, cotton is also grown in Sri Lanka, which is used to make a majority of the fabric seen in the country. Raw fabric is produced by "spinning" the cotton and "weaving" it once it has turned into threads.
As a result of all these boons, Sri Lanka seldom ever imports these products into the country, only ever resorting to during off-seasons for agricultural resources. This has led to a self-sustained growing economy that does not rely on international trade to benefit.

🇫🇷🗣️Description du Domaine 🇫🇷🗣️

🇬🇧🗣️Domain Description 🇬🇧🗣️
Château de France is managed today by Arnaud Thomassin: family continuity, with the same objective of quality and development throughout the world. His sisters Véronique and Virginie are also involved in the management of the property.
Wine is his first job.
“As soon as I arrived at Château de France, I paid particular attention to the vineyard. Green works, which have an immediate qualitative response, were developed from then on.”
The Thomassin family chooses essentially direct marketing, thus controlling its distribution channels and prices.
Arnaud Thomassin's wish is to control the majority of his clientele. He travels to France, Europe and major export markets to support the actions of distributors on the ground. “Close and constructive distributors, who come to the castle, friendly relationships, while keeping our objectives in sight.”
